We are based in a rural village and the work of the practice is a direct response to the conditions and experiences of living and working in a small community. Our overarching aim is to produce buildings that support and contribute to a modern rural life.

Through both desire and necessity our projects are diverse in scale and type but share a common focus on the development of sustainable rural communities through proposals that address the changing social, political, logistical and economic conditions that determine rural life.

Current and recently completed projects include:

- detached house on a the edge of a village

- extension and renovation of a listed house

- detached country house in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

- single room extension to a detached house in a conservation area

- detached home office

- artist's studio

- conversion of a stable block to residential accommodation

- shelter for a forest school

- series of bird hides in a wetland habitat

- community building and allotments

- local history centre

- public footbridge

- shared rural workspace

- pub

- village hall

- commercial swimming pool

- climbing centre

- 44 hectare country park

Through careful analysis of the existing place and community we propose solutions that augment the existing and offer new opportunities for living.

The needs of each client and brief differ and our approach to each project varies in response. The RIBA's Plan of Work divides the construction process into eight sections and provides a means of understanding the design and construction process.

Our involvement in each project can be tailored to suit the needs of each client from advice prior to buying a house or plot of land through to a full service dealing with all aspects of a project.

Fees are generally calculated as:

- a quoted percentage of the final cost of the building work

- a fixed lump sum

- time charge basis

Depending on the nature and complexity of the project we can usually tailor our services to suit your budget or requirements. Please contact us for a discussion of the likely fees for your individual project.
